Excavated from the 10th century onwards beneath the Chinon fortress, these cellars are a unique place where the spirit of Rabelais still echoes. The mill tower (located at the westernmost point of Fort du Coudray) overlooks the entrance. In the middle are two remarkable wells that directly connect these cellars to the fortress. The first is a stone quarrying shaft, while the second is a water well with a total depth of 96 meters!

The tasting
In this extraordinary setting, where wine truly comes into its own, visitors can taste all of the estate’s vintages. Visitors can explore the cellar at their leisure, guided by information panels that provide details about the site and its history.
Following the tour, there will be a tasting of 5 wines paired with a platter of local cured meats and cheeses.
