What you can expect
Your experience begins between 08:30 and 09:20 with hotel pick-up and a comfortable drive toward our first stop.
At 09:40, we arrive at the iconic Venizelos Graves, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over Souda Bay and the city of Chania. This scenic hilltop location offers the perfect introduction to the region and a wonderful photo opportunity. After taking in the views and learning about the historical importance of the site, we depart at 10:00.
By 10:15, we reach the historic Kipos Cafe, a charming garden café dating back to the early 20th century. Here, you will enjoy a traditional Cretan breakfast experience, tasting freshly baked bougatsa paired with coffee or fresh juice. You’ll have time to relax and savor this authentic local treat before we depart at 11:15.
At 11:30, we continue to a traditional coffee spot in the heart of Chania. During this cultural pause, you will discover the sound of the Cretan lyra through a live presentation of the island’s most symbolic musical instrument. While enjoying the music, you’ll sample selected local delicacies such as artisanal cheeses and traditional barley rusks. This immersive cultural experience lasts until 12:00.
From 12:00 to 12:30, we enjoy a guided walk through Chania’s atmospheric Old Town. We pass by the famous leather street “Stivanadika,” admire the elegant Cathedral of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary, and explore charming alleys shaped by Venetian and Ottoman influences.
At 12:30, we arrive at the historic Sintrivani Fountain, where you’ll enjoy approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes of free time (until 13:45). You may stroll along the picturesque Venetian Harbor, browse local boutiques, discover hidden corners, or relax with a seaside coffee.
We regroup at 13:45 and begin our return journey, passing through the traditional knife-makers’ district (Machairadika), where artisans continue the centuries-old craft of hand-forging the iconic Cretan knife, a powerful symbol of honor and friendship.
Finally, between 14:30 and 15:20, we arrive back at your hotel, completing a beautifully balanced half-day journey into the culture, flavors, and living traditions of Chania.
