Join us on a unique adventure that will transport you to the heart of history and nature in Barichara and Guane. This captivating guided tour will lead you through breathtaking landscapes and immerse you in the region's deepest roots.
We begin in Barichara, a picturesque village with cobblestone alleys and colonial architecture that seems suspended in time. Here, you will learn the story of its founding in the 18th century, a town that bears witness to a past rich in adventure and transformation. The journey continues along the legendary Camino Real, an ancient trail once traveled by the Guane Indigenous people and later by the Spanish conquistadors. As we make our way along this ancient trail, the landscape unfolds before your eyes: deep, majestic canyons, verdant mountains shrouded in thick mist, and flora and fauna that tell stories of centuries of evolution.
Upon arriving in Guane, a peaceful town nestled in an almost magical setting, we will visit the Paleontological and Anthropological Museum. Here, the traces of prehistory come to life as we explore the fossils that bear witness to the Earth's evolution and delve into the legacy of the Guane indigenous people, a community whose spirit can still be felt in the air. The vestiges of their culture, their customs, and their struggle during the Spanish colonization process tell a profound story of resistance and adaptation.
Our route continues with a stop at the viewpoint, where you can take in spectacular panoramic views of the valleys and canyons that surround this magical region. The views serve as a reminder of the grandeur of nature that has shaped this region for millennia.
To round out this unique experience, we will visit the Chapel of Santa Lucía, a historic landmark where the region's first evangelization efforts began. This tranquil site bears witness to the first encounters between the indigenous people and the colonizers, a starting point in the fusion of two worlds that would forever transform the destiny of this land.
