Begin at the legendary Mercado San Telmo — a covered market inaugurated in 1897 that remains the city's gastronomic heart — and sample classic empanadas, local cheeses, and cured meats from traditional market stalls.
Next, stop at a traditional parrilla for choripan with chimichurri sauce — Buenos Aires' most beloved street food, eaten standing up just like a porteño. Then visit a local artisan shop to taste dulce de leche in all its forms, the iconic Argentine spread consumed more per capita here than anywhere else in the world.
