What you can expect

Discover the wild side of Bribie Island on a half-day adventure combining beach 4WDing, lagoon kayaking, native wildlife and WWII history in one tour.

Meet your guide beside the beach access at Woorim and climb aboard the 4WD. Leave the sealed road behind and travel along Ocean Beach, taking in wide coastal views while your guide shares stories about the island and watches for wildlife.

Bribie Island is home to kangaroos, wallabies, sea eagles, ospreys, dolphins, Whales, turtles and other coastal wildlife. Sightings vary because the animals are wild, and some are seasonal but your guide will point out wildlife and signs that visitors commonly miss.

At Norfolk Lagoon, swap four wheels for a kayak and paddle through the black mirror lagoon this calm, tea-tree-stained water surrounded by paperbarks and native bushland. Take in the quiet atmosphere of this secluded lagoon, with time for an optional swim when conditions allow.

Continue along the beach to Fort Bribie, a remote WWII defense site accessible by 4WD. Walk among the historic bunkers and gun emplacements while your guide explains why the fort was constructed, what life was like for the soldiers stationed there and the role Bribie Island played in protecting Moreton Bay.

On the return journey, stop at Welsby Lagoon for a scenic view across its tea-tree-stained waters and the surrounding Bribie Island landscape.

Your 4WD transport, guided kayaking experience, kayak equipment, recreation-area access, water and light snack are included. Experience the excitement of beach driving, the calm of a lagoon paddle and a fascinating piece of Australian history—all without needing to take a ferry.
