Join Pam for a two-hour guided tour on a stand-up paddleboard through the dark waters, where you'll see a stunning natural phenomenon called bioluminescence. When you paddle, the tiny organisms in the water light up and create a dazzling blue-green glow.
You'll learn about the science behind it and the creatures that produce it. This tour is perfect for anyone who loves nature and wants a unique and magical experience. You do not need to be an experienced paddler, but must be comfortable either standing, sitting or kneeling and moving from one position to another on the board. There are no kayaks available for use.
Your tour will begin at sunset, as the sky transforms into a beautiful array of colors. As you glide through the water, your experienced guide Pam will point out different types of marine life that call this area home. You may spot some fish, crabs, or even seals!
As night falls and darkness sets in, you'll start to see small flickers of light beneath your board. These are caused by bioluminescent plankton called dinoflagellates, which react to movement and create the breathtaking glow. Pam will explain how these organisms work and why they emit light.
This experience is not only visually stunning but also educational as you gain insight into the delicate ecosystem of the ocean.
