The history of Boulogne-sur-Mer: 25 centuries of history, from the Morini, a people of the 4th century, to the present day. Boulogne-sur-Mer was also a Roman stronghold, then a strategic point of defense against the English in the Middle Ages, before becoming, in the 19th century, the ideal place, according to the young Napoleon, to attempt to invade England. It is also the birthplace of one of the fathers of Egyptology, Auguste Mariette.
