Begin with a pickup from your hotel in Bishkek and head to Ala-Too Square. Learn about the main government buildings, the flag of the country, and the national hero Manas. Watch the changing of the guards at the main flag, which takes place every hour.
Next, enter the grandiose building of the National History Museum and have a quick, 1-1.5 hour tour. Continue to Oak Park, where you will see statues of the founders of the Kyrgyz nation and the National Opera House.
After the opera house, be picked up and transported to the national memorial Ata-Beyit. Ata-Beyit is a place of sorrow and tragedy, and it is rarely included in travel itineraries. But it is worth visiting to see the uneasy path of the country to independence. First, it opened as a memorial for the victims of Joseph Stalin's mass killings in the 1930s, later a new monument for the 1916 uprising was built. And then Chinghis Aitmatov, a famous Kyrgyz writer, was buried there, next to his father who was a victim of Stalin’s repressions.
After the memorial, be transferred back to Bishkek to visit Osh Bazar, the largest and most vibrant market in Bishkek. Learn about the life of ordinary people, because in order to get to know a Central Asian country one must visit its bazaar. In the bazaar, visit the food section, nuts, dairy, and souvenir sections. Overall, spend 1-1.5 hours in the bazaar. In the end, be transferred back to your hotel.
