What you can expect

  • Riding comfortable pedal bikes along back roads with no traffic, we will learn about the history of olive oil, from its “lampante” uses to the oil we find on our tables. We'll start with a stop at the Dolmen of Montalbano to admire this megalithic monument dating back to the Bronze Age, when the landscape was not yet so full of olive trees but only of oaks. Cycling along the ancient Via Appia-Traiana, we will reach a historic farmhouse where we will stop to admire the architecture and the thousand-year-old olive tree hidden behind it. On the way back, we'll stop at a modern olive mill to taste 3 different types of olive oil and learn to recognize the organoleptic qualities of each variety.
