What you can expect

Begin your tour in the heart of Biella, a city known for its influential role in the textile industry since the Middle Ages. Start at the Zumaglini Gardens, a green oasis dedicated to the memory of Antonio Maurizio Zumaglini, a doctor, botanist, and philanthropist. Admire trees planted in 1876, such as the large cedar and towering sequoias.

Continue to Via Italia, the shopping street known for its elegant 19th-century buildings and historic cafes. Arrive at the foot of the Cathedral of Santo Stefano Martire, dedicated to the city's patron saint, and the Romanesque-style Baptistery, a symbol of Biella.

Reach the exterior of the Teatro Sociale Villani, then move on to the base of the historic Funicular that once connected the lower city to the ancient upper city. Next, visit the Piazzo, a well-preserved medieval village considered one of the most beautiful in Italy.

Walk along its cobbled streets and admire medieval-style buildings, arcades, the Church of San Giacomo (the oldest in the city), and the exteriors of Palazzi Ferrero, Lamarmora, and Gromo Losa, once the homes of wealthy local families and now venues for temporary art exhibitions. From the Piazzo, enjoy a panoramic view of the lower city before continuing to the MeBo.

Conclude your tour with a visit to the MeBo, the Menabrea Botalla Museum, where two Biellese excellences are handcrafted: the famous Menabrea Beer (pale, bottom-fermented, with a full and refined taste) and MeBo cheese, the result of collaboration between Menabrea and the Botalla Dairy, made from cow's milk, often aged with herbs, with a delicate yet distinctive flavor.
