With a perfect blend of adventure, spirituality, and cultural exploration, this tour offers an in-depth view of the Last Himalayan Kingdom’s mystical charm.
Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Transfer to Thimphu
Arrive at Paro International Airport, where you will be warmly welcomed by your guide. After a scenic drive to Thimphu, visit the towering Buddha Dordenma Statue, offering panoramic views of the Thimphu Valley, and the National Memorial Chorten. In the evening, explore the local markets or relax at your hotel.
Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing
Spend the day exploring Thimphu’s fascinating sites. Visit the Tashichho Dzong, the seat of Bhutan’s government, and the Institute for Zorig Chusum (School of Arts and Crafts), where traditional Bhutanese art is taught. Explore the Folk Heritage Museum and National Library, home to ancient manuscripts. End your day at the Craft Bazaar, where you can shop for local souvenirs.
Day 3: Thimphu to Punakha via Dochula Pass
After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Punakha. En route, stop at the Dochula Pass, famous for its 108 chortens and stunning views of the Himalayas. Once in Punakha, visit the Punakha Dzong, Bhutan’s most beautiful dzong, situated between the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. In the afternoon, take a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang, the Temple of Fertility, known for its unique history and legends.
Day 4: Explore Phobjikha Valley
Head to the tranquil Phobjikha Valley, a stunning glacial valley known for its natural beauty and as the winter home of the rare black-necked cranes. Visit the Gangtey Monastery, perched on a hilltop overlooking the valley, and enjoy a nature hike through this pristine landscape. Immerse yourself in the valley’s peaceful atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle.
Day 5: Punakha to Paro
Return to Paro, stopping again at the scenic Dochula Pass for a fresh perspective of the Himalayan range. Once in Paro, visit the ancient Rinpung Dzong, which offers stunning views of the valley, and explore the Ta Dzong, a unique watchtower that now houses the National Museum, showcasing Bhutan’s rich history and culture.
Day 6: Tiger’s Nest Monastery Hike
Today’s adventure is the highlight of the tour – a hike to the legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery. This sacred site, perched on a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley, is where Guru Rinpoche is said to have meditated. The challenging trek is rewarded with spectacular views and a deep sense of peace and spirituality. Afterward, visit the Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples.
Day 7: Departure from Paro
Enjoy a relaxed morning with some final sightseeing or last-minute shopping in Paro before transferring to Paro International Airport for your departure.
