What you can expect

We will meet at the fountain known as “El Pilón” in Plaza Mayor.
We will give a presentation so that our guests know exactly what we will be doing, and then we will begin our day.

We will head to the Plaza de Mangana, an idyllic spot offering one of the best viewpoints in the entire city and also the perfect place to discuss the origins of Cuenca's cuisine, as the three religions coexisted in this area.

From there, we will head to our first restaurant stop: Mangana Restaurant, located in the heart of Plaza Mayor, where we will enjoy our first sample of a typical Cuenca dish, ajoarriero. This traditional Cuenca dish will be paired with a local wine.

After this first experience, the second one awaits us at the Savbia restaurant, where we will sample another of the region’s most traditional dishes, morteruelo. Paired with white or red wine, we will enjoy this local dish while taking in the magnificent views of the Huécar River gorge, where we can see the Parador de Turismo hotel and the Sacred Heart of Jesus viewpoint.

We will continue on our way to the Raff San Pedro restaurant, which has been awarded multiple Repsol Suns and is recommended in the Michelin Guides. This site was a stable until the 19th century, and the 14th-century city wall will serve as the perfect backdrop for a typical Cuenca dish prepared through the lens of traditional signature cuisine.

When we finish, we will head down to our fourth and final stop: the Casa Manzar restaurant. Here, we will be taken on a tour of the restaurant’s four floors, which were once the home of the Cuenca-born composer and singer-songwriter José Luis Perales, who lived there for two decades. The tour of the house will end in the wine cellar, after we have enjoyed the beautiful and wonderful views of the Cathedral and another part of the Hoz del Huécar. We will conclude this part of the tour with local wine and one of the city’s typical dishes.

After leaving Casa Manzar, we will head towards the Júcar Gorge to visually enjoy the spectacular landscape offered by nature and Cuenca’s largest river. We will climb to the Church of San Pedro, where we will learn some of the history of the church and the castle that once stood in the background. Then, we will walk down Calle San Pedro, which was once the main street of the nobility, and end our tour on this street with the grand finale: a tasting of resolí, the traditional liqueur of Cuenca, and the region’s quintessential dessert, alhajú.

NOTE 1: If you have any allergies, please let us know in advance, at the time of booking, so that we can inform the restaurant and ensure they are prepared.
NOTE 2: Those who do not wish to drink wine, or who are teetotalers, may have beer, water, coffee, or a soft drink.
NOTE 3: The minimum age for participating in this tour is 18 years old.
