What you can expect

This two-day small-group escape from New York trades the city for one of the world’s great natural wonders, with a night near the falls and the flexibility to explore at your own pace. Day one heads upstate from New York, with an optional stop at the world-renowned Corning Museum of Glass, where live demonstrations and around 100,000 pieces make for a memorable break. In the warmer months you can also detour into Watkins Glen State Park, the “Millennium Valley” in the Finger Lakes, where a gorge trail winds past more than a dozen waterfalls. You reach Niagara by evening for the mandatory in-depth night tour, taking in Ram Island and Moon Island as Horseshoe Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and American Falls glow under colored lights. When fireworks are scheduled, you’ll be there to see them. Overnight is near the falls.

Day two is yours to choose. Add the optional Classic Tour for Whirlpool Park and the Cave of the Winds, finishing in summer with the legendary Maid of the Mist boat ride into the mist below the falls, or in the cooler season with a visit to historic Old Fort Niagara State Park. Either way, you get close enough to feel the power of the falls before the comfortable drive back to New York.
