What you can expect

  • It is a spectacle that is unique in the world: when the water makes its way from the Hercules down into the valley, history comes to life. The water artistry in the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe is far more than an aesthetic production – it is a triumph of Baroque engineering and a monument to Landgrave Carl's unconditional creative drive.
    Technology, sophistication, and baroque dramaturgy

Join us on the path of the water and discover what motivated the Landgrave to create this monumental complex in the early 18th century. As we follow the cascades, waterfalls, and aqueducts, we will explain the fascinating technology behind this purely physically controlled system. We look at the sophistication with which Baroque austerity and romantic staging of nature merge to form a harmonious synthesis of the arts.
    A finale of worldwide renown

The drama increases with each stop until the “Great Fountain” in the palace pond, over 50 meters high, forms the finale. This experience is not only visually impressive, but also provides a deep understanding of the time of the Landgraves, when water was used as a symbol of power and divine order. We invite you to discover this UNESCO World Heritage in all its complexity and beauty.
The Bergpark is a complex of enormous dimensions. The guided tour follows the natural slope of the terrain and requires good physical condition and sturdy footwear to safely navigate the paths.
