What you can expect

  • Discover Wild Donegal from Belfast

Escape the city and experience one of Ireland's most spectacular and least-explored regions on a private full-day tour from Belfast to Derry and South Donegal.

This is a long but incredibly rewarding day, combining the history of the Walled City of Derry with the dramatic landscapes of Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way.

Your day begins with convenient collection from your Belfast hotel, accommodation, cruise ship or Grand Central Station, before travelling west towards Derry.

Explore the Walled City of Derry

Begin with an introductory walking tour along the historic city walls of Derry (included), one of the finest-preserved walled cities in Europe.

Discover more than 400 years of history as you see important landmarks including the Guildhall, Peace Bridge and the famous Derry Girls mural.

You'll also have some free time to explore the city, browse the shops or enjoy a coffee before continuing into County Donegal.

    Discover Donegal

Cross the border into Donegal and watch the landscape change as you travel through one of Ireland's most remote and beautiful counties.

We'll make a stop in Ardara, a traditional Donegal town famous for its weaving heritage and welcoming pubs. It is also a great place to stop for lunch, with local favourites such as Nancy's Bar.

From Ardara, continue through the spectacular Glengesh Mountain Pass, where we'll stop to take in the sweeping views across the valley.

    Experience Slieve League

The highlight of the day is Slieve League, where enormous Atlantic cliffs rise dramatically above the ocean.

Take time to enjoy the viewpoints, walk a little further if you wish, and experience the wild Atlantic landscape at its most impressive.

With the fresh sea air, rugged coastline and surrounding mountains, this is a very different experience from the more visited tourist sites of Ireland.

    Donegal Town

On the return journey, we'll stop in Donegal Town, where you can explore the Diamond, browse the shops or enjoy a drink in one of its traditional pubs before beginning the journey back to Belfast.

A Private Tour That Can Be Tailored

Because this is a private tour, the day can be adapted around your interests and preferences where possible.

If you'd prefer to spend more time exploring Donegal, we can discuss alternatives such as Glencolmcille Folk Village and Assaranca Waterfall instead of Derry.

Other options may include visiting the Ulster American Folk Park, finishing the tour in Donegal Town or Derry rather than returning to Belfast, or adjusting the amount of time spent at individual stops.

Whether your interests are history, scenery, Irish culture or simply getting off the beaten track, we'll do our best to make the day your own.

At the end of the tour, relax as we travel back to Belfast, arriving in the evening.
