What you can expect

The Artuby Canyon is one of the best routes for discovering canyoning in the Verdon Gorges. Accessible from the age of 8 for those who can swim, it offers a perfect balance between adventure, thrills, and the discovery of an exceptional natural environment. Its main advantage is that it offers all aspects of canyoning on a progressive route, where everyone progresses at their own pace. The most impressive obstacles are always optional or can be overcome in other ways, making it an ideal outing for both families and groups of friends.

The half-day begins with a meeting with your state-certified instructor at the parking lot near the canyon. After a friendly welcome, the guide explains the itinerary for the outing and hands out all the technical equipment: neoprene suit, neoprene socks, helmet, special canyoning harness, and all the necessary safety equipment. They then take the time to explain how the gear works, the rules for progressing, and the instructions for enjoying the activity to the fullest in complete safety.

Once equipped, a few minutes of walking are enough to reach the start of the canyon. This very short approach allows you to quickly get to the heart of the matter, without a long access hike. From the very first meters, the scenery changes completely: the limestone cliffs gradually narrow, the clear water meanders between the rocks polished by centuries, and the Mediterranean vegetation gives way to a cool and wild atmosphere.

The route then alternates between numerous natural features that make canyoneering so rewarding. You progress through the water by walking, swimming in beautiful pools of clear water, descending short abseils under the guidance of the live guide, and taking several natural slides carved into the rock. Thrill seekers can also make several jumps into deep pools. All these jumps are entirely optional: if you do not want to jump, your instructor will always offer you a safe alternative by rappelling or taking a bypass.

Throughout the descent, the guide adapts the pace to the level of the group. They take the time to help those who are more hesitant, reassure beginners, and offer some additional challenges to the more athletic participants. This personalized approach allows everyone to have an enjoyable experience, regardless of their age or skill level.

After about two hours in the canyon, the outing ends with a short walk of about 15 minutes to the parking lot. Once the equipment is removed, everyone can share their impressions with the live guide, pick up their souvenir photos if this service is offered, and leave with the feeling of having discovered one of the most beautiful outdoor activities in the Verdon.
