What you can expect

Important: Before confirming your booking, please contact us to let us know the dates you're available for the excursion.

You’ll embark on a dolphin and cetacean watching tour off the coast of Saint-Jean-de-Luz.

Meeting time is at 8:00 AM at the pontoon. After a short briefing, we’ll head out to sea.

For this trip, we’ll navigate offshore toward the Gouf de Capbreton — an impressive underwater canyon. Just a few dozen meters deep near Capbreton, it plunges down to over 4,000 meters. This oceanic trench is a hotspot of marine biodiversity, home to the entire food chain — from plankton to fish to marine mammals. Over fifteen species of cetaceans have been recorded in the area.

It takes about 45 minutes of navigation to reach the observation zone.

There, we often encounter small groups to large pods of dolphins — sometimes numbering in the hundreds.
The most commonly sighted species are striped dolphins, common dolphins, and bottlenose dolphins.

In spring, we also frequently see pilot whales.

More rarely, we may be lucky enough to spot Risso’s dolphins, harbor porpoises, fin whales, sperm whales, or even beaked whales.

In all cases, we approach animals with the utmost respect for their peace and natural behavior.

Return to the harbor is scheduled for around 12:30 PM.
