What you can expect

See the superb collection of Florentine sculptures at the Bargello Museum. Skip the queue outside and spend as much time as you wish admiring masterpieces by Michelangelo, Donatello, Cellini, and Gianbologna.

Built in 1255, the Bargello Palace was used as a public palace and prison before becoming the art institution it is today. The museum houses a large collection of Italian Gothic and Renaissance sculptures from the 14th to the 17th century.

Wander through magnificent artwork, including Michelangelo's marble bas-relief of “Tondo Pitti” and Bernini's “Bust of Costanza Bonarelli,” a marble portrait of his beloved. Michelangelo's famous statue of the biblical figure David is not the only 1 in Florence. Discover the “Davids” by Donatello and Verrocchio displayed here.

Explore the fine collection of ceramics, tapestries, silver, and old coins. See the museum's lovely courtyard, medieval walls, and tower—used as models for the construction of the famous Palazzo Vecchio.
