Join a snowshoe walk in the heart of the Bardufoss Region. Walk towards the magnificent Målselvfossen, Norway’s national waterfalls, where you can make a campfire and enjoy the view of the frozen waterfalls while you prepare traditional Norwegian hotdogs over the fire.
Start your experience at Rundhaug Gjestegård where you will meet your guide for snowshoe fitting. Your guide will drive out to the forests surrounding the waterfalls where we buckle our snowshoes on and start hiking towards Målselvfossen.
The hike takes about 30 minutes, maybe more if there is a lot of fresh powdery snow. When you arrive at the waterfalls, your guide will light a campfire while you get to see the waterfall up close (keeping a safe distance). On the campfire, prepare traditional Norwegian hotdogs with bread and typical condiments.
Serve hot “gløgg”, a traditional winter drink, and coffee. Your guide will share their knowledge of the Arctic wilderness, the importance of the local salmon, and tell you the story of how the Målselv Waterfall was created 10,000 years ago.
