Balloon flights in Avon Valley, just over 1 hour away from Perth. Ticket includes return transfer from Crown Complex in Perth to our meeting location in the Farmers Home Hotel in Northam, where we return for a lovely breakfast after the flight.
The Avon Valley is the central farming region in Western Australia. It is part of the Wheat Belt and a beautiful area for balloon flights. Our flying season is from April till the end of October. Flights take off before dawn, so meeting in Burswood (Crown Complex car park on Glenn Street) happens exceptionally early. We follow the sun, so meeting times vary. Although stated as the departure time of 04:00 AM is a generic time, we will confirm the exact meeting time with you the day before your flight. In the middle of the Australian winter, it can be as late as 04:30 AM, but towards the season's end, close to November, it is closer to 02:30 AM.
The Valley is beautiful in the winter sunrise, with months of bright yellow canola fields or rolling wooded hills where we often fly over mobs of kangaroos and, if you are lucky, emus as well. With departures close to Northam or historic towns like York or Toodyay, the weather in the valley is exceptional for ballooning, so much so that two of the three round-the-world ballooning expeditions started from the same town we meet, Northam.
