What you can expect
Discover Palermo with a tour that combines authentic flavors and great artistic masterpieces, starting from the beating heart of the city: the historic market of Ballarò. Amid the colors, scents, and voices of the vendors, you'll have a unique experience in Sicily's most famous street food, tasting some of Palermo's most beloved traditional specialties.
During your walk through the market, you can try crocché and panelle, typical potato and chickpea fritters, sfincione, Palermo's “pizza” with onion, tomato and anchovies, the iconic arancine, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, and finally the sweet Sicilian cannoli, filled with fresh ricotta.
After the gastronomic experience, the tour continues among the symbolic monuments of the historic center, one of the largest in Europe. You'll admire the majestic Palermo Cathedral, a masterpiece that tells centuries of history through different architectural styles, from Norman to Gothic, from Baroque to Neoclassical. You'll continue to Porta Nuova, an ancient monumental gateway to the city, located next to the Palazzo dei Normanni, perfect for a photo stop. We'll visit the UNESCO site of San Giovanni degli Eremiti and take in the most beautiful view of Palermo from the bell tower of San Giuseppe Cafasso.
You'll then stroll along the streets of the historic center, among noble palaces, churches, and lively alleys, until you reach the famous Quattro Canti, the scenic Baroque intersection that divides Palermo into its four historic districts. From here, you'll head to Piazza Pretoria, dominated by the spectacular Fontana Pretoria, also known as the “Fountain of Shame” for its numerous nude statues, and surrounded by historic buildings such as Palazzo Pretorio and the church of Santa Caterina.
The tour also includes a stop in front of the Teatro dei Pupi, where you can discover the tradition of the Opera dei Pupi, recognized by UNESCO as an intangible heritage of humanity, a symbol of Sicilian popular culture and the epic stories of the paladins.
This experience is designed for those who want to get to know Palermo in a complete way: not only visiting its most famous places, but also savoring its soul through food, history and traditions. It's an ideal tour for cruise passengers and travelers with little time available, who want to experience the best of the city in a few hours, accompanied by a local guide who will tell you interesting facts, legends, and anecdotes along the way.
A journey through taste and beauty, perfect for falling in love with Palermo at first taste.
