Welcome to my home in Santa Catarina Barahona, where you will cook as our Mayan grandmothers did. I learned this cuisine from my grandmother, and today I'm sharing it with you: fresh ingredients from the local market, a clay comal and firewood, a grinding stone, and recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation.
Choose from one of 4 menus of authentic recipes and cook it with your own hands from scratch:
IMPORTANT: The entire group must choose the same menu for this date. Out of respect for time and traditional cuisine, we only prepare one menu per 3-hour workshop.

More than a cooking class, Utum is a close encounter with Mayan culture. I will teach you the meaning of each ingredient, we will grind on stone, and you will share the table as if you were family. You'll take away new skills and a taste of home.
Workshop note: Out of respect for time and traditional cuisine, we only prepare one menu per group in each 3-hour session. This way, we can cook calmly, share the table together, and everyone can enjoy the full experience.
