What you can expect

Before the concert:
Upon arrival, you will enter an iconic Parisian venue: the American Cathedral, the Église de la Madeleine, or the Chapelle de Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Away from the hustle and bustle of Paris, the solemn and peaceful atmosphere invites contemplation. You take your seat, surrounded by visitors from all walks of life, eager to share this unique moment.

Concert starts: 8:30 p.m.
The concert begins. Around fifteen professional choir members, dressed in mauve, take the stage. A cappella, they perform the first iconic songs from the gospel and Negro spiritual repertoire, such as “Amazing Grace,” “This Little Light of Mine,” “Oh When the Saints,” and “Go Down, Moses.” A saxophonist and a pianist occasionally join the choir to enhance the performance.

During the concert:
As the songs progress, the hall fills with energy, hope, and emotion. The songs tell the story of slavery, conveying universal messages of resilience, love, and peace. The audience is invited to participate, to sing, to clap their hands: the line between performers and audience disappears, giving way to a genuine moment of togetherness.

After the concert:
At the end of the concert, around 10:00 p.m., the audience leaves the venue with smiles on their faces, touched by the generosity and passion of the choir members. The shared emotion lingers in the conversations that follow, and the experience leaves an unforgettable impression, regardless of the audience’s age or beliefs.
