What you can expect

  • Departure by private shuttle from Matera to Altamura, meeting with the licensed guide and start of the guided tour.
You will visit the historic old town and the beautiful Cathedral commissioned by Emperor Frederick II of Swabia in 1232, with its Gothic-style public clock tower dating back to 1858.
Stop at a typical bakery where you can taste the famous Pane di Altamura, followed by a visit to the claustri, narrow closed streets that open onto small courtyards with an architectural style typical of the city.
At the end of the tour, you can recharge your batteries with lunch at a typical Apulian tavern, where you will savor traditional dishes.
After lunch, transfer to Gravina and visit to the historic old town, which is unique and evocative because it lies on the banks of a ravine about 100 meters deep and with a fascinating karst appearance.
Here you will admire the Cathedral of the Assumption, from which you can enjoy a beautiful view of the bridge and the entire cave-dwelling area, and you will immerse yourself in an evocative and breathtaking landscape.
    Return to Matera.
