Make your way through the bewitching départment of the Haut-Rhin, where you will stop at four small artisanal wineries to taste and savor the magnificent wines for which Alsace is rightfully acclaimed, including Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Muscat, and Riesling.
Stop in the charming ancient (UNESCO) village of Eguisheim, which dates back to the early 13th century. Encounter an esteemed wine producing family who’s multi-award winning wines are produced strictly in accordance with organic and bio-dynamic practices.
The second destination of your wine tour is the alluringly beautiful medieval village of Riquewihr, which is considered by many people, to be one of the most picturesque villages in the whole of Alsace.
Stop for approximately 1 hour. Here, you are free to either take lunch, do some sightseeing or engage in a bit of shopping. (Lunch is not included as part of the wine tour).
We will visit one of these fabulous artisanal wineries where you will taste some of the most exciting and critically acclaimed wines produced from the region. The Vigneron’s of Riquewihr produce unquestionably, many of the most exquisitely dry white wines to be found anywhere in the region, especially Riesling for which the Schoenenbourg Grand Cru is justifiably famous.
Make your way up into the fabulous Schoenenbourg Grand Cru vineyard, where you can observe the rich tapestry of the surrounding vineyards and the verdant, undulating, landscape stretching out before you.
Your day ends with a visit to the charming and delightful old town of Ribeauville, located at the very heart of the Alsatian region. Renowned for its three magnificent Grand Cru’s, (Osterberg, Kirchberg, and Geisberg). Ribeauville lies cradled in amongst this triptych of vineyard royalty.
At this historic old winery you will taste the driest and fruitiest of Rieslings alongside many of the most sumptuously noble grapes to be found in Alsace, including Sylvaner, Muscat, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc. Finally, make your way back to either Colmar or Basel where you will then be dropped back at your hotel.
