What you can expect

  • The Colmar Pocket is one of the great forgotten campaigns of the Western Front — and one of the most brutal. Between November 1944 and February 1945, the French First Army, with the US 3rd and 28th Infantry Divisions and 12th Armoured, fought village by village through the Alsace winter to destroy the German 19th Army and reach the Rhine. Four Medals of Honor were awarded.

This private, expert-led tour takes you through seven battlefield sites in chronological order. You begin at a 1940 Maginot casemate on the Rhine, follow the fighting through Sélestat, Kaysersberg, Sigolsheim and Bennwihr, stand at Holtzwihr where Lieutenant Audie Murphy made his Medal of Honor stand, and finish at Jebsheim — the “Alsatian Verdun,” where the Pocket finally broke.

Led by battlefield historian Matt Menneke, featured on National Geographic and the Discovery Channel, the tour connects each site into one clear story. It's your group only, at your pace, with hotel pick-up across the Colmar, Strasbourg and Freiburg region. A grounded account of what happened here — and why it mattered.
