Your guide will meet you at your accommodation before driving to the start of your Abel Tasman adventure. We will board our comfortable catamaran at beautiful Kaiteriteri beach, following the coast, pausing at Split Apple Rock/Tokongawhā on our way to the gold sands of Observation Beach where our kayaks await.
Here, your fun, cruisy and enjoyable kayak leg begins. Heading across the Astrolabe Roadstead, a safe channel of water named by the early explorer Dumont d’Urville, we’ll kayak the coastline of Adele Island/Motuareronui. You’ll hear the chorus of birdsong that rings through the treetops long before you reach this predator-free wildlife sanctuary, home to a flourishing community of wildlife, including the playful New Zealand fur seals (Kekeno) as they bask on the rocks and dive playfully into the sea.
On returning to the beach, your guide will lead you along the stunning coastal track of Abel Tasman towards Anchorage. We’ll chat about the birdlife, the massive ferns and our regenerating forests before simply magnificent views emerge as we make our way north to once again meet the boat for the return cruise back to Kaiteriteri.
