San Diego Bay is a natural, deep-water harbor on the Pacific coast of California, known for its strategic naval importance (home to a major U.S. Navy base), bustling commercial port, and vibrant recreational activities. It's a long, narrow bay offering stunning waterfront views, diverse ecosystems, and a rich maritime history.
USS Midway Museum (Pass by)
They have an impressive collection of historic ships and replicas. Key ones include: Star of India (1863) — an iron barque, and the oldest active sailing ship in the world. Berkeley (1898) — a steam ferryboat HMS Surprise — a replica of an 18th-century Royal Navy frigate. San Salvador — a replica of Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo's flagship. Californian — the official tall ship of California (a replica revenue cutter). Other vessels: the steam yacht Medea, the harbor pilot boat Pilot (1914), the submarine USS Dolphin, the Vietnam-era patrol Swift Boat Mark II PCF 816 It was the longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century, in active duty for 47 years. The Midway served in the Vietnam War, Cold War operations, and Operation Desert Storm in 1991 before being decommissioned in 1992. In 2004, it opened as the USS Midway Museum on San Diego’s waterfront

Seaport Village is a waterfront shopping, dining, and entertainment complex, located on San Diego Bay in downtown. It opened in 1980, covering about 14 acres. It’s designed to feel like a harbor-side village from a century ago: cobblestone paths, winding walkways, ponds, fountains, lakes, lush landscaping, free-standing buildings in a variety of styles (Victorian, Spanish, etc.).
Cabrillo National Monument (Pass by)
Cabrillo National Monument, located on the Point Loma Peninsula in San Diego, commemorates the first European expedition to set foot on the West Coast of the United States. On September 28, 1542, Spanish explorer Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo landed at San Diego Bay, marking a pivotal moment in California's history. Established as a national monument in 1913, it offers visitors a blend of historical insights, natural beauty, and panoramic views of the San Diego region.
The Unconditional Surrender (Pass by)
The statue is about 25 feet tall. Material: The current version in San Diego is bronze (a replacement for earlier versions that were made of foam core with a urethane outer layer). Installed at Tuna Harbor Park along North Harbor Drive, on the San Diego Bay waterfront, right in front of the USS Midway Museum. The area is also part of what’s called the “Greatest Generation Walk.”
