  • Meals: breakfast
  • Accommodation: Not included

Verdun

The guide will come to pick you up around 09:30 am and you will have the option to go to Verdun. There, you will visit the city and the legendary battlefields of the WW1. The Battle of Verdun lasted 300 days and claimed over 700,000 victims: approximately 305,000 killed or missing and around 400,000 wounded, with nearly equal losses on both sides. It is estimated that nearly three-quarters of the French army fought at Verdun, making it the symbol of the Great War, a testament to the peak of combat intensity. See the Memorial of Verdun (Museum), the Ossuaire du Douaumont and the trenches. Then, leave the city in the end of the afternoon for Strasbourg.

Metz

The other option is a visit of Metz and its beautiful city center. The city has been known since pre-Roman antiquity. Commercial city of the Carolingian Empire, Metz is the seat of a powerful bishopric, and a trading and banking city of importance. Metz became a protectorate and a French stronghold in the 16th century, before being annexed by the German Empire at the end of the 19th century, which named the region Alsace-Moselle. Then, it became French again after the First World War, it was annexed by the Third Reich from 1940 to 1944. Those changes of nationalities had a big impact on the wonderful architecture of the city, that is now famous for its cathedral, train station and Opera. Discover the city during a walking tour and then enjoy a lunch. Then, leave by car for Strasbourg.

Strasbourg

Arrive in Strasbourg at the end of the afternoon for a city walking tour. Strasbourg, the capital of Alsace and a living symbol of dialogue between peoples. This charming city, located on the banks of the Rhine, embodies the meeting of history, culture, and European geopolitics. For centuries, it has changed hands, alternately French and German, sometimes both at once in the hearts of its inhabitants. This dual influence has shaped its architecture, language, cuisine, and, most importantly, its soul. Today, Strasbourg is as much a guardian of its thousand-year-old heritage as it is the home of a growing Europe. A city of art and history, it is also a political capital, where local traditions meet continental ambitions. Throughout this tour, you will discover a city that is both intimate and international, where each façade tells a part of Europe's shared history. End the tour in the European Quarter and enjoy some free time before your guide drop you off in Strasbourg.
