9:30 AM – Departure from your office to the main port. We’ll board a motorboat and navigate for approx. 40 minutes along the Madre de Dios River to reach your eco-lodge. Welcome with a fresh regional fruit juice and briefing about the lodge and activities. Time to settle into your rooms. Guided walk through the rainforest to observe ancient trees, monkeys, birds, and insects in their natural habitat.

1:00 PM – Lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon: kayaking on the Madre de Dios River. We’ll paddle to a nearby island inhabited by capuchin monkeys and enjoy the surrounding wildlife (turtles, butterflies, toucans, parrots). After dark: night boat excursion in search of caimans, whose glowing eyes can be spotted with flashlights. You might also spot nocturnal mammals like capybaras, armadillos, or pacas. 8:00 PM – Dinner. Optional activity: Jungle bonfire and storytelling under the stars.
Day 2: Sandoval Lake & Jungle Night Walk

4:30 AM – Early breakfast. 5:00 AM – Visit to Sandoval Lake, located inside the Tambopata National Reserve. This stunning 3 km lake is rich in wildlife and surrounded by dense rainforest. We’ll hike approx. 3 km through the jungle to reach the lake, passing clay palm licks where macaws gather in the early morning to feed on minerals. Observe aguaje palm forests, orchids, and large Amazonian trees such as lupuna and shihuahuaco. Wildlife sightings may include red howler monkeys, black caimans, giant river otters, herons, kingfishers, hoatzins (prehistoric-looking birds), and many more.

1:00 PM – Lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon: Piranha fishing and other Amazon fish species like paco, palometa, sardines, catfish, etc. You can take what you catch and have it prepared for dinner. Later: night jungle walk, completely different from the daytime experience. Spot crickets, grasshoppers, fireflies, frogs, toads, tarantulas, snakes, and the famous tree lizard Plica plica, a master of camouflage. 8:00 PM – Dinner.
Day 3: Tapir Trail & Return

Puerto Maldonado

8:00 AM – Breakfast. Guided hike along the Tapir Trail, which ends in a swampy aguaje palm forest, where wild fruits attract tapirs and other animals. Approx. 3-hour hike. Possible sightings: wild pigs, rodents, toucans, and oropendola birds. Note: From November to April, this trail may flood, becoming a seasonal wetland that serves as a habitat for anacondas – a fascinating ecosystem that changes with the seasons. 1:00 PM – Lunch. 4:30 PM – Return to the city.
