DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1: Highland Expedition: Tribal Encounters & Majestic Passes (L/D)
08:00 AM - Hotel Pick-up: Head north along NH12 before veering onto a secluded valley road.
10:00 AM - Xa Phang Tribal Encounter: Visit a remote hamlet to observe the intricate hand-stitching of traditional shoes. Enjoy a simple, home-cooked lunch inside a unique wooden house.
02:00 PM: Head toward Tua Chua to continue your highland expedition. Progress to a stretch of natural rocky plateau, offering one of the best vantage points surrounded by corn fields. You will see small houses of the Mong people who have lived here for generations. You can leisurely walk down the road, combining deep breathing and relaxation. Feel free to take photographs.
04:30 PM - Tua Chua Ascent: Arrive at Ta Phin Commune in the late afternoon, optional homestay accommodation is available. Check in, have dinner and overnight at a local homestay.
DAY 2: Local market — Ancient Tea Forests — Da River Canyon (B/L/D)
Awakened earlier by the relentless crowing of roosters, the day starts on mountainous area. Breakfast at homestay, then continue our trip.
Morning Market: If dates align, visit Ta Sin Thang Rotating Market where local people sell handmade clothes and make indigo-dyed jackets on old sewing machines (held on Day of Horse/Rat).
Stop at village entrance to visit Shan Tuyet Tea area. Walk among century-old, moss-covered tea trees in high-altitude mist of Sin Chai.
Continue south for choice of afternoon vibe:
Option 1 (Adventure): Private boat cruise through Da River canyon cliffs (boat/kayak fees optional on-site).
Option 2 (Culture): Visit lakeside Dao village to see wooden looms and hear stories from elders.
Dinner and overnight at homestay by romantic lakeside.
DAY 3: Highland Encounters — Muong Phang Jungle — Dien Bien Phu (B/L)
Morning: Descend karst plateau via scenic route. Explore a hidden natural cave with stalactites. Cross hilly region of Hmong and Black Thai groups with photo stops. Lunch break on the way.
Jungle Exploration: Arrive at Muong Phang in early afternoon. Walk around historic Viet Minh’s Campaign Headquarters where General Giap lived and strategised in 1954. Walk through 69m tunnel and path toward Observation Post (1,700m level).
Return: Brief tea/coffee break at summit overlooking the valley.
18:00 - Hotel Drop-off: Arrive in Dien Bien Phu city and check in. End of service.
