What you can expect

  • The Pest side of Budapest could boast of one of the most flourishing Jewish communities in the region from the 18th century until the mid-20th century. Discover this heritage and explore the Jewish District through sights and stories with the guidance of a field expert historian.

Starting from Deák Square, visit the famous Gozsdu Passage and visit two historical synagogues: the Rumbach Street Synagogue and the Kazinczy Street Synagogue, both being excellent art historical and historical examples and mementos of their own time.

Visit mementos of the Holocaust: the Ghetto Memorial Wall and a Memory Wall. Hear stories of miraculous survival and miracle-making people who helped others to survive.

Besides the monuments, the streets themselves are also interesting. Learn their stories and explore lesser-known interesting sights. Get to know the stories and tales surrounding the streets of the Jewish District: who lived there, who was famous, and why. Where did two other synagogues stand in the district which were demolished by the 1930s?
