The journey takes approximately 2–3 hours, passing rural communities and beautiful landscapes along the way. Upon arrival, you will check in at your lodge near the park and have time to relax and prepare for upcoming activities such as gorilla trekking or cultural visits.

Volcanoes National Park

On the trekking day, you arrive early at the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing by park rangers, where you are assigned to a specific gorilla family and group. Accompanied by experienced guides and trackers, you then hike through forested slopes of the Virunga Mountains, a trek that can last from one to several hours depending on the gorillas’ location. Once the gorillas are found, visitors are allowed to spend one unforgettable hour observing them at close range, following strict rules to protect both the animals and trekkers.

During the visit, guests are welcomed by community members who demonstrate traditional dances, drumming, and songs, and they also take part in cultural practices such as learning how to grind grains, hearing ancient legends from village elders, and exploring the roles of a king, warriors, and healers in pre-colonial Rwanda. Kigali
