What you can expect

Day 1: Arrival – Moshi

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where your driver will warmly welcome you and transfer you to Moshi. Depending on your arrival time, relax at your lodge with views of Mount Kilimanjaro or explore the town. Overnight in Moshi.

Day 2: Materuni Waterfall & Coffee Tour

Hike through lush banana plantations to reach Materuni Waterfall, a stunning 90-meter cascade. Swim in its refreshing pool before joining the Chagga people for a traditional coffee ceremony—pick, roast, and brew your own cup while learning local customs. Overnight in Moshi.

Day 3: Lake Chala Adventure

Discover the turquoise waters of Lake Chala, a crater lake on the Tanzania–Kenya border. Enjoy a rim hike, canoeing, or birdwatching, with a picnic lunch by the lake. Return to Moshi in the evening.

Day 4: Chemka Hot Springs

Relax in the crystal-clear Chemka Hot Springs, a geothermal oasis shaded by fig trees. Swim, explore hidden caves, and enjoy a picnic lunch. Overnight in Moshi.

Day 5: Safari to Tarangire National Park

Begin your safari with a full-day game drive in Tarangire, famous for massive elephant herds, baobab trees, lions, giraffes, and over 400 bird species. Overnight at a lodge or tented camp near the park.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Day Trip

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO site often called the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” Spot lions, elephants, buffalo, flamingos, and the rare black rhino. Picnic lunch by the hippo pool before returning to Karatu for overnight.

Day 7: Mkomazi National Park

Explore Mkomazi, a lesser-known park offering wild dogs, black rhinos, elephants, giraffes, and unique semi-arid landscapes. Fewer visitors make this a truly special safari experience. Overnight near the park.

Day 8: Journey to Usambara Mountains

Travel to the cool, green Usambara Mountains. Arrive in Lushoto, known as the “Switzerland of Africa.” Take an afternoon walk through tea plantations and villages. Overnight in Lushoto.

Day 9: Usambara Hiking & Handeni Museums

Hike forested trails with sweeping views that may reach the Indian Ocean. In the afternoon, visit Handeni Museums to explore traditions of the Sambaa, Zigua, and Maasai people. Overnight in Lushoto.

Day 10: Usambara Cultural Immersion – Transfer to Bagamoyo

Spend the morning in cultural activities—market visits, herbal medicine tours, before driving to Bagamoyo, a historic Swahili coastal town. Overnight in Bagamoyo.

Day 11: Bagamoyo Museums & Historic Sites
Explore Bagamoyo’s colonial past and Swahili heritage. Visit Bagamoyo Museum, Kaole Ruins, and the Old Fort. Wander narrow streets, admire coral stone houses, and enjoy fresh seafood by the ocean. Overnight in Bagamoyo.

Day 12: Bagamoyo Cultural Tour & Departure
Visit artist workshops, fishing communities, and local markets to experience Bagamoyo’s vibrant culture. Depending on your flight, enjoy leisure time on the beach before transfer to Dar es Salaam or Kilimanjaro Airport for departure.
