Blue Mountains incorporates a glorious stretch of coastline on the southern shores of Georgian Bay. Christie Beach, Northwinds Beach and the private Blue Mountain Beach are good places to visit for kayaking, sailing, swimming and many other watersports. After a few hours of beach activity, stroll along the streets of Thornbury, a waterfront community home to antique stores, art galleries and fashion boutiques.

Explore the area with a vigorous hike or bike ride. Trek over hills and through deep valleys on the Bruce Trail and stop at viewpoints to admire the vistas of Georgian Bay. Go on the 21-mile (34-kilometer) Georgian Trail that passes beaches, rivers, nature reserves and several picnic areas.

Take pleasure in more leisurely pursuits. Fish for trout at the Peasemarsh Nature Preserve and search for millennia-old fossils in Craigleath Provincial Park. Learn about the cultural and natural history of Blue Mountains at the Craigleith Heritage Depot. Play at one of the many golf courses dotted along the coastline.

Blue Mountains is approximately a 2-hour drive north of Toronto. Get around the town via rented car or bike, or by bus and taxi. Stay overnight at hotels, guesthouses, mountain lodges and camping grounds.
