We weren't sure what to expect for our first guesthouse experience but the reviews don't lie and this place is just as special as everyone says it is. Upon arrival we were greeted by Akira, who is just the most amazing host! He helped my mum carry her suitcase to her room and has thought of everything and I mean everything! He walked us through all of the amenities before providing us with maps of the city, explanations on how to get the buses, food recommendations and even a token gift! Akira speaks Japanese, Italian and English so if you need to confirm any details before staying here you can call without any issues with the language barrier. Location: The guest house is a 10 minute walk from Nijo station or can be reached by just one bus stop. There is a supermarket on the way from the station too if you need to pick up any supplies. Kyoto is a sprawling city and we found Nijo to be a great spot. It's on the main bus routes into Gion and the main street of Kyoto while being close to the JR line. Room: The rooms have everything you need. The bathroom has a bath, shower and clothes drying system. It also has a washing machine, fridge and freezer. The rooms are really spacious and ours even had a small balcony out the back. There's an instruction manual on how to use everything and don't worry if you're confused Yoko or Akira will be more than happy to help explain!

    Unbelievable hospitality!

Family of 4 stayed here for 4 nights. This place had everything, kitchen, WiFi, clothes washer. Very clean and modern. Near bus stops to get anywhere in Kyoto. 10 min walk to Nijo Station. Close to restaurants, bakeries, convenience stores. The owners are so nice! They gave us a small gift every day (fruit, cakes, etc). I forgot a power adapter, which they promptly sent to us in Tokyo. Japan has to be the most respectful and courteous culture in the world!

room was spacious. staff was very nice and helpful. I asked Akira San to help me with my next hotel and even he booked a hotel for me under his name(he paid) but card transaction to pay him back didn't go through so I had to book another hotel. long story to short, he will help you with his heart and I really appreciated and sorry for what happened

    Wonderful stay

Akira was so welcoming. Many steakhouses were full without a reservation but Akira helped get us one!

    A superb guesthouse

We had stayed in the guesthouse for one night. The bus-stop was just 2 -minute walk away. Both the house and the room were clean because all shoes were kept in the locker at the entrance of the building. The room was spacious and equipped with all essential facilities such as kitchenette, microwave, refrigerator and washing machine. We could buy the things we needed in the supermarket just a few minutes walk away. The room was good for couples or families who wish to enjoy a little cooking or home feel. We enjoyed our stay in this guesthouse and definitely it would be our first choice to stay in our future visit to the city.
