Cool and Quiet in a Nature Park

Nice place for an overnight get-away from city life up in a high altitude park overlooking Keningau town. Park has an easy 2 km hiking trail that is mostly shaded that passes a small waterfall and ends (or starts) at a fern garden, insects garden and Rafflesia reserve. Family room facilities are basic, with wash basin, spacious warm shower area. Water supply is derived naturally from the slopes and suffers disruption, presumably from clogging, but their technician is quick to check the problem and resolve it as soon as possible. However, upon restoration, the water is no-longer clear but greyish, which suggests the need for a filtration system. Park has an open canteen/restaurant with a variety of basic decent food and beverages overlooking Keningau town below. There is also a football field with goal posts but the grass isn't great. Still, a good place to get away from the city/town for a day and night of nature, cool air and quietness.

    Great Location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The location is excellent - in the heart of the Crocker Range, ideal for bird-watching or just taking the occasional hike. We stayed in a chalet - nicely furnished, but perhaps in need of some modernisation, and a little bit expensive for what it was. There were some problems with water and electricity (not the fault of the management), but the staff dealt with this quite well. In fact the staff were very helpful in a number of other areas. Food choices were pretty good at the open cafeteria, and the food was actually good value. Overall our experience was a good one (I would give it 3.5 smiley faces if I could) and we would happily go back.

    Great views.

Location in the mountains is great. Room was clean but basic. Water supply went off a couple of times in the two days we were there. The menu at the restaurant is limited but adequate for a day or two and the staff were very friendly. The grounds are great for walking.
