Granada Vacation Packages

The medieval architecture, mountain backdrop and thriving food and art scenes of this Spanish city offer a magical combination of culture and natural beauty.

Granada offers visitors a blend of old and new with dynamic culinary and arts scenes, ancient buildings and beautiful mountains.

The city’s famed architecture is a major draw for many visitors. Start your tour in the streets of the Albaycin, the city’s old Muslim district, where you can admire centuries-old mosques and churches. Visit the Baroque-style Cartuja Monastery where you’ll find paintings by Juan Sánchez Cotán, a Spanish Baroque painter best known for his still lifes.

Art lovers will also appreciate the collection of paintings by acclaimed abstract expressionist artist José Guerrero held at the Centro José Guerrero. To learn more about another famous native, visit the nearby Federico Garcia Lorca Museum (Casa Museo Federico Garcia Lorca de Valderrubio). This museum celebrates the life of one Granada’s most famous poets and was once his home.

Younger visitors to Granada will enjoy the interactive exhibits, planetarium and butterfly garden at  the Science Park (Parque de las Ciencias).

Along with an appreciation for art, Granada also places importance on its culinary scene. Many city establishments serve small plates of tapas for free when you buy a drink. Find many such tapas bars on Calle Panaderos, which leads off Plaza Larga, and Calle Elvira.

Granada sits along the Genil River, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The mountains provide attractions in both summer and winter. The highest peak is Mulhacen, which measures 11,411 feet (3,478 meters). Go trekking in the summer when the valleys offer a cooler climate to the Andalusian heat that nearby Cordoba and Seville experience. A ski resort, which hosted the FIS Alpine World Ski Championship in 1996, opens in the winter months.

Granada’s narrow and winding streets make driving in the city difficult. Getting around is easiest on foot as the major attractions are closely grouped. Alternatively, catch the red and white Alhambra Bus; this service stops at most of the places you’ll want to visit.

Q: Should I book a car while on vacation in Granada?

A: Unless you adore driving, public transportation is probably the easiest way of getting around the buzzing streets of Granada or Motril. With no parking fees (or trips to the gas pump) to stress about, you'll be able to relax and explore the city's popular sights with ease. If your main priority is to bypass town completely and take in the region of Vega de Granada or elsewhere, grabbing the keys to a rental is an excellent option. Browse our guide to Cheap Car Hire in Granada, book a ride and go wherever you want at your own pace.

Q: Which airports can I fly in to for a vacation to Granada?

A: Granada Airport (GRX-Federico Garcia Lorca) is your best bet if you're journeying by plane to Granada. This leading airport terminal services 81 international flights each month.

Q: What are the most popular types of hotels for a vacation to Granada?

A: There's plenty of choice when it comes to accommodations in Granada. The most popular style are apartments. But if that doesn't suit, you can also choose from hotels, pensions, budget hotels and much more.

Q: What does a vacation booking with Expedia include?

A: It all comes down to what kind of vacation you want. Choose a flight and hotel, or flight, hotel and car, or car and hotel — or any one of these individually. If you like, you can also add on some activities and experiences.

Q: What is the best way to save money on my vacation to Granada?

A: You'll score some fantastic bargains if you combine your Flights and Hotels. It's a breeze (and easy on your budget) to tailor your own vacation package via Expedia. So what are you waiting for? It's time to turn those travel fantasies into reality and see more of our fascinating planet for less.

Q: What are the best things to do in Granada?

A: Don't forget to add Carmen de la Victoria and Flamenco La Alborea to your itinerary if you're staying in Granada. Mirador Mario Maya is another favorite of travelers and locals alike.

If Motril is your next stop, you'll also want to stop by Las Americas Park, Granada Beach and Calahonda Beach.

Or, for something a little different, discover why Naturist beach of Cantarriján, Puerto Deportivo Marina and Punta de la Mona Lighthouse are excellent attractions for people traveling to Almunecar.
