Try your hand at thrilling watersports at this curving, palm-fringed beach set on the east coast of the island of Boracay.

Bulabog Beach is the adventure sports capital of Boracay and one of the most famous watersports centers throughout Asia. When the wind blows, Bulabog Beach is a favored retreat for those who love to kitesurf and windsurf. Watch the surfers pull off impressive tricks, take surfing lessons and drink in the tropical scenery of Boracay.

The beach is an arching stretch of soft white sand located on the quieter east side of the island. It’s a great spot for enjoying walks in the fresh air, especially early in the morning when the sunrise paints the sky in soft shades of orange, red and yellow. Swimming is possible, although not as a pleasant as the island’s other beaches because of large quantities of seaweed.

From November to April, the beach becomes the Philippines hotspot for kitesurfing and windsurfing. This is due to the Amihan season, which brings northeasterly winds, mild temperatures and low rainfall. Sit on the sand and observe as experienced riders surf around the bay and perform jumps in the waves. The hundreds of multicolored sails are a dazzling sight to behold.

Watersports centers line the beach and provide equipment rentals. They can also arrange lessons for absolute beginners and proficient surfers looking to enhance their riding ability. Dabble in other watersports such as parasailing and water-sled rides. Alternatively, traverse the water at your own pace via rented Jet Ski and stand-up paddleboard.

Find backpacker hostels, self-catering villas and upscale resorts located along the beachfront. Several offer packages that include accommodations and kitesurfing or windsurfing lessons that will be catered to your ability.

Bulabog Beach is just a 10-minute walk from Boracay’s main commercial and tourist zone, White Beach. If arriving from Panay Island then you’ll need to catch a ferry from Caticlan to Cagban Jetty Port. From here, take a tricycle taxi or hotel shuttle to your accommodations. The beaches of Boracay are quieter from May to October however, heavy downpours are common.
