Stayed for 1 NT. The rooms are dark, dated and musty…but clean. Many hotels were full due to Public hokidays. Food and service was good especially their Japanese course dinner. There is no where elae to have food outside The bathroom seriousky needs upgrading.

We had a car incident forcing us to not arrive until 9pm, way past their checkin and dinner time. We told them that we will be late and they were so accommodating. We did not expect they would still have dinner for us (included in price), but to our surprise, they had their receptionist, restaurant staff and chef waiting for us - just us!! We still had our full course meal!! We were so touched and so thankful. They were so kind!! Thank you. 200% service!!

A bit of paradise

Absolutely superb can’t praise this place enough, breathtaking beauty of setting; service, staff, place impeccable. Only drawback is getting to the resort but again resonate did a lot to help, shuttle bus to Yufu helps as Yufu is a good transport hub and advisory service, it took these information services (one in Beppu, one in Yufu) to make me aware of the service.

Wonderful retreat on the Kuju Plateau

Posted 5 Jul 2018
This was a great place to get away and relax. The spacious room was very peaceful and we enjoyed the bathtub with the private view. The dinners were superb in both the Japanese and French restaurants. The breakfast buffets and course menu were also excellent, as was the beed curry and steak sandwich we had for lunch because we didn't want to leave the resort. The onsen was convenient although maybe a little dated, but it was very large to accommodate many people. There are also private hot springs you could reserve, although we did not get a chance to do that. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, even to us English-speaking guests. Nearby is the Kokopelli Western Riding stable, where you could go on lovely rides through the mountain prairies with their well-kept horses. There is a small discount on the rides if you are staying at Resonate Club Kuju. It was a very nice experience and we hope to go back soon.

Beautiful clean room, Onsen was great and so relaxing. Dinner was traditional Japanese and as good as I’ve EVER had. I would 100% recommend to anyone. We intend to return frequently.

Serene location with marvelous view

Friendly staff were very helpful. Onsen facility was clean and well managed. My room was standard-grade, but pretty huge and could enjoy in-suite bath while watching stars.

Rustic getaway

Posted 30 Apr 2015
Pros: Remoteness. In-room coffee mill for us coffee snobs. Dinner/breakfast. Ranch ambience very different than usual hotels in Japan. Staff/chef responsive
Cons: Pillow comfort choices. One pillow per bed and they are both hard and thick.
Location: Mt Aso and Yufuin areas about 1hr drive. Takachiho 2hs. Nearby horseback riding, camping, animal & flower farms, wineries, petting zoo. Views & views.
Nestled in part of the National Park, Resonate is a mixed onsen/rustic ranch. Spacious rooms with mountain cabin feel, but with the usual hotel comforts except room a/c. Stayed a few days before GW, and there was no crowd. Onsen was typical, but remoteness of hotel allowed excellent night sky views from the outdoor spa. Highlight was a great multi course dinner (the local beer is great!) and an impressive breakfast buffet spread with Western and Japanese choices. Very little access unless you drive.
