Great for families, awesome staff, good activities, but food quality and variety is mediocre and in some cases, not good.
Rooms are spacious and comfortable for families up to 5 or 6. Kids even have their own room.
Beach is small but plenty of chairs and palapas for shade and fantastic views and calm water.
Staff is awesome. Super friendly, attentive, responsive, great with kids, ran all activities well and with enthusiasm. The kids club was a lot of fun too.
The food was disappointing. There are only two restaurants and you can only reserve two days in advance. We were able to get 3 reservations to these, which means we had to eat at the buffet every other night for dinner. Be prepared for redundancy, because the options are not there.
Most of the food lacked flavor and was hit or miss for quality. This includes the poolside dining and buffet. Even at Los Murales the food was overcooked or bland. At Kinoko, most of the entrees tasted the same. These are promoted as finer dining, but they weren’t. They have an unenforced dress code.
Overall, our whole family had a great time and loved the experience. This a perfect “first time”family vacation spot. But the lack of food quality and variety will keep us from coming back.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We have three young children (8,5,1) and we stayed in a villa. There was plenty of space to spread out. The kid zone activities were fun and our two oldest enjoyed them.
The main dining restaurant stayed very busy and they ran out of certain food items pretty frequently. However, the staff was working diligently to keep everything stocked. There are two restaurants available to make reservations at. We really enjoyed the hibachi option. The chef there was top notch and so kind.
It is important to note that this is a time share property- so they will try to sell you on that. It was developed as a time share and transitioned into offering all inclusive resort stays. So, it is a time share first and all inclusive second. However they weren’t overly pushy at all. There are also people all over the property offering services - like spa services, photography, etc. (at cost*)
overall the stay was nice however we’ve stayed at other resorts with more restaurant options and more kid activities. I will say the food here was some of the best we’ve had at any resort.We did really enjoy all the pool options and playing tennis and relaxing in the hammocks. The size of the resort is important to mention.There is an A and B side which are easy to navigate between.Because there is extra space the pools never felt overly crowded and we had plenty of space to swim with the kiddos.
The beach was also great.The resort worked diligently to keep the shore clean.

We've been coming to Royal Haciendas for the past 5 years, and we love the property. It is clean, the food is very good, and the staff are so helpful and kind. I realize that they make money by booking excursions through the concierge desk, but one particular guy was doing the hard sell on us, when we told him we were just there to rest and relax (I had just had surgery so no excursions other than going into town in Playa del Carmen). Aside from him, everyone was friendly and helped us with whatever we needed. There is a beautiful private beach, multiple pools, and activities on site so we were never bored. We will stay again and again.

Very friendly staff. Extremely attentive to guest’ needs. Quiet and very family friendly. Food is delicious. Beach is walkable.
