I enjoyed my stay, the entertainment was dope..the staff were good and respectful. I’ll be comin back. My favorite reserved restaurant was the Sofia Italian restaurant..mainly for their salmon and mussels.

THE GOOD: The wait staff were very attentive. Our server Trudy-Ann greeted us every morning with a smile and outstanding service. The housekeeper did a great job every day and the bartenders were fast and made great drinks. FYI, be sure to tip your servers. So many guests didn't leave so much as a single dollar! The nightlife was great and if you're looking to party they've got you covered. The beach was just ok, nothing to write home about. THE BAD: The food is bearly edible and the choices were the same everyday. The Italian restaurant Sophia's was a disgrace to even call it Italian. I ordered the Chicken Milanese with Porcini Mushroom sauce and it was inedible! There was ONE, JUST ONE single mushroom over an overcooked fried chicken cutlet with canned brown sauce. I couldn't even finish it and I wouldn't feed it to my dog! The Chinese restaurant was laughable and I got sick from the Jamician/Chinese Sushi. Do NOT eat it! The steakhouse was also a joke. There was more fat on my steak than there was on some of the obese women at the resort. And when I say obese, I'm talking 300lbs wearing clothing that was extremely inappropriate and left little to the imagination. My corneas were burned daily. BOTTOM LINE: I would not return to that resort nor would I recommend it.

The property cleaners was exceptional. The staff service was mediocre. We had several problems in our unit the customer service staff listen, but was not attentive. Their attitude was very passive as if they just wanted us to say what we had to say and get out of their face. The problem did not get fixed for several hours at a time.

Upon arriving in Jamaica, our navigation through customs was unorganized and chaotic to say the least. Following that our pre-paid pick up was not in sync with our flight arrival (we had called ahead of time to inform them of our flight that was delayed several times). When we arrived at RIU resort we were not welcomed with enthusiasm or hospitality. The staff were not helpful in guiding us to our rooms. They did not inform us on how the electricity worked in the room nor was the room prepared to a basic standard (there was no blanket, limited toilet paper, and the soap for the shower was more than halfway gone). Mosquitos, nats, and other insects were infesting our room our entire stay. When dining out at the restaurants on site we were limited to how late they were open. No snacks were readily available unless it was off site or in the overpriced gift shop they had. We never experienced the steak house because reservations had to be made in advance despite there being plenty of available seats even after they were fully booked. The food was mediocre at best and often stale or overcooked. The pools were warm and not refreshing to be in with the hot humid weather. Being on the resort’s beach was not enjoyable because it left us itchy and irritated from being on the sand. Merchants on kayaks also harassed us constantly trying to grab our attention to get us to buy from them even after we refused. The other guests were classless and unruly. We will not be going back to Jamaica.
