Wifi is fast

Posted 12 Sep 2016
Pros: Wifi is fast, courteous staff
Cons: cleanliness pls.
Location: near talipapa so you can buy some knick knacks.
Staff are nice, they coordinate and treated us well. However, the room is a bit gloomy. I woke up around 1am and shocked to see 2 cockroaches "dancing" near our open luggages! Argh! I managed to kill both but was on the lookout all through the night as I have a toddler with me. Didn't throw them in the trash and left it aThe stairs going to the room are very steep, I saw some scratches on my lower legs from going down the stairs. Not advisable if you have a senior citizen/s with you. Walls are thin, I can hear the girls beside our room chatting all night.

Small is best

Fantastic place to stay. We nearly stayed at a big resort style hotel but so glad we didn't and stayed here instead. Blue Verandas is only small, but you get a great feel for the island. Perched over a row of shops, it is so welcoming, and whereas big resorts have that feel of 'you could be anywhere in the world', this for us, gave us a real sense that we were in paradise. The staff were so friendly, breakfasts were different each day, mango ice cream one day actually goes well with pancakes. Rooms are comfy and an endless supply of toiletries. Seriously, never been to a place with so much choice of shampoo, shower gels and body scrubs! Can't recommend this place enough. Only ten meters from the beach, but just enough away so it's quiet and relaxing too. Forget big resorts. Stay here.

Very nice economy hotel just steps from the beach.

Posted 2 Oct 2014
Cons: Bathroom needs improvement so showering doesn't make whole room wet. Mini-fridge would also be welcome.
Location: Beach is literally steps from the hotel door. Multiple dive shops and restaurants/bars are close by.
Airport pickup is available for a reasonable fee and crucial to locating hotel from the road (hotel is steps from the beach, but the route to the road is convoluted). The room itself (I stayed in a 2 bedroom) was good for an economic choice. Pros: Clean room, comfortable beds, and decent free wifi in all rooms. Air condition worked well and the fan outside each room on the veranda was a welcome addition in case you wanted to enjoy the sun and atmosphere without the heat. Included breakfast was spartan, but not bad. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is located above several shops, and the entrance to about 20 ft from the beach. Cons: Bathroom was a single tiled room with only a curtain to separate the shower from the toilet. Since the floor was not slanted, the entire bathroom floor would be wet after a shower. Room also did not include a mini-fridge, so if you wanted to purchase any drinks to keep in the room or just keep leftovers then you couldn't.

Very Satisfied

Posted 27 Sep 2014
I'm very satisfied with my stay in Blue Veranda. The staff was warm, the place well kept, and most importantly I see that they have a continuous improvement policy. One staff member interviewed us towards the end of their stay asking for suggestions on how they can improve. I really appreciate that. Most commendable is that fact that after we checked out, my husband realized that he had lost his iPhone. As we mentally retraced our steps, we concluded that the phone must have slipped out of his pocket during the tricycle ride going to the port. The staff of Blue Veranda was unrelenting in tracking the driver and contacting the phone. Technically this was already outside their jurisdiction as we had already checked out and were not even on their grounds when the incident took place. But they went over and beyond the call of duty. If only for that experience, I would be more than happy to stay with them again. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the hotel is a few steps from the beach, is surrounded by tiangge-style stores and dampa-type restaurants.

Undisclosed steep staircase

Posted 17 Jul 2014 on Hotels
This hotel was booked for my mother who has hip problems. We selected a hotel close to the beach and surrounds. It was hard to find the hotel as it was not on the beach as advertised. Upon arrival we found there were no ground floor rooms and the stair case was more like a ladder, even for healthy young adults. The hot water unit was in the shower and the power outlet was right next to the shower head. This proved unsafe in our mind. We were unsatisfied with a few other minor things within the room. We approached the hotel manager about this and he was greatly understanding and said he had no problem with a refund but it needed to be done via hotels.com. We wrote to hotels.com and they responded very quickly and refunded us for 3 out of the 4 nights stay. we opted to stay in th hotel for the first night as we got mum up in the room and it was too hard to move her to another hotel in the same day after all the travels to get to Boracay. Both the hotel and hotels.com were great to work with in this unfortunate situation. It's not the hotels fault, but there are many other nice hotels available for not much more. This hotel would suit backpackers and low budget young travellers.

Nice boutique like accommodation.

Except for a leaky ceiling and hard to control hot and cold shower, this little place offers a nice ambience and a secure place to stay. Staff are nice and friendly. Place is clean and location is great.
